Fifth blog post that I am writing and it’s not about an island! Are you happy for me? I went away from my usual horizons and decided to talk about a different kind of place that I would like to visit. Why do I want to visit it? Well, I remember when I was younger that I said I wanted to visit the Niagara Falls too. The big waterfall and endless water stream fascinates me so much. I have heard internet information about a guy that rode inside a barrel through the Niagara Falls and survived. Like what? Where did he go? How did he survive? Anyway, it’s a must for me to visit this place.

Locations of the three waterfalls
The Niagara Falls is located in New York and has three waterfalls. The names of the waterfalls are the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls. The name Niagara Falls is the collection of all three. Each waterfalls’ names come from a fact. The American Falls is near the border of US, the Canadian Falls is near Ontario and shaped like a horseshoe, and the Bridal Veil Falls is shaped like a bridal veil. Horseshoe Falls is the longest and the tallest waterfall. Also, apparently the waterfalls are around 10,000 years old!
Tightrope Walk pic Nik Wallenda
There is about thirty million tourists that came to the falls every year. A crazy event that some like to do here is tightrope walking across the falls. Um… no thank you! The first person to attempt this was in 1859. Nik Wallenda, in 2012, made the attempt and successfully made it across. He had to present his passport while on the tightrope as he crossed through the American-Canadian border.

Bobby Leach
Now, about the guy that rode in a barrel through the Niagara Falls, he ended up dying in an ironic way. He rode in a steel barrel into the Niagara Falls but, apparently he died later from a leg amputee by slipping on an orange peel. His name is Bobby Leach and it is inferred that there may have been initial injuries to his leg when he dove into the Niagara Falls. So, that may explain the irony of his death.

Anyway, back on topic, Niagara Falls is one of the most visited and beautiful places in the world. I may not be trying to tightrope walk across it but I will definitely visit there one day!
